Horticultural crops (fruits, fall leaves vegetables, roots and tubers) are an essential part of the diet of people in the central African country. They thus contribute to food security and nutrition. FAO (United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture) catch a glimpse organization set up around these crops in six central African countries, including the Republic of Congo.
The agricultural sector represents both opportunities and challenges. It helps in these six countries (Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe, Chad and Congo) to 17.5% of gross domestic product (GDP). It is also a source of income and employment for the majority of the population. Subsistence fall leaves farming is the practice and the most common.
